About Sewyeah
Hi! My name is Christine Leech and I am the creative mind behind Sewyeah and The Sewyeah Social Club. I have been crafting all my life and love sharing my knowledge and skills with others. I am based in South London and have a studio at the bottom of my garden where I run workshops and spend my time working on collaborations, commissions and other craft delights.
I have sold over 250,000 craft books worldwide. They include the best selling Everything Alice and Pompomania (Quadrille/Hardie Grant) and cover a variety of subjects from pompoms, papercraft and printmaking to embroidery, home sewing and crafts for children. My most recent books were part of a series on Zero Waste Crafting published by David & Charles.

In 2016 I won Best Stocking on Channel 4’s Kirsties Handmade Christmas and was invited back to the show in 2021 to judge the best Christmas tree and Christmas gift episodes. In 2019 I was one of the craft experts on Channel 4’s Kirsties Celebrity Craft Masters, sharing my skills with a selection of celebrities (of varying abilities!!) I have also been a guest on Radio 4’s Womens Hour talking about the positive health benefits of making pompoms.
I love teaching people about craft and it's ability to improve ones mental health. I have run both bespoke (3 attendees) and largescale (300 attendees) workshops at various festivals and PR events including Port Elliot, Festival No. 6, The Handmade Festival and Selfridges.

I love to work on both a large and small scale. I have covered a window of Heals furniture store in small pieces of confetti, each piece, hand cut and fixed to the walls, window, furniture and floor. I've organised a community project to create giant chandeliers from plastic bottles and upcycled waste for the Bath Christmas Market and I've also organised a worldwide collaborative embroidery make-a-long entitled The Hometown Patch project.

WHAT IS THE SEWYEAH SOCIAL CLUB
The Sewyeah Social Club (SYSC) is an on-line craft community offering the opportunity to be part of a fun, friendly and supportive group wherever you are in the world. The aim is to promote a creative and sustainable lifestyle filled with joy and colour. There are digital download embroidery projects, live make-a-longs on Instagram and limited edition kits, perfect for beginners and also those with more experience.
Where possible I sources the best quality, sustainable materials for my kits. I often uses vintage or pre-loved components, scouring eBay and markets for crafty treasures.

The instantly downloadable PDF embroidery patterns are filled with inspirational photography, clear instructions, stitch guides and templates. They are designed to fit on both UK a4 and US letter sized paper. Many of the projects also have .sgv files for those with Cricut or other cutting machines. Providing these projects as digital files, allows you to personalise your designs with your own choice of colour palette, use up your stash and only shop for the materials you need.
